These washi paper sandals make ideal room shoes, keeping your feet comfortably dry and warm. Each pair is hand-woven using durable cord made from the fiber of traditional Japanese washi paper -naturally water-resistant and breathable. The sandals absorb sweat and release moisture quickly through evaporation, making them a pleasure to wear barefoot.
The thong-style design makes them perfect for wearing with five-toed or two-toed socks.
In traditional Japanese footwear like these zōri, it’s common - and considered stylish - for the heel to slightly overhang the sandal by 1-2 cm. That said, a snug fit is perfectly fine for those not used to this style.
Designed with sustainability in mind, the Washi Paper Sandals are machine-washable (please use a laundry net), highly durable, and long-lasting. When they eventually wear out, they can return to the earth as they are fully biodegradable. They do not emit harmful substances when burned, making them gentle on both people and the environment.
Handcrafted by Washi Ishikawa, a specialist in washi production and eco-friendly paper products based in Ehime Prefecture, Japan.
