✨ EXCEPTIONAL MARTIN 00-18 ACOUSTIC GUITAR ✨

A seriously special piece through the shop. This 2025 Martin 00-18 was bought new by one of our customers in January 2026 for £3,100 from Gear4Music, played once, and traded back in for a 12-string. That’s the reality of it. This is essentially a new guitar with a huge saving.

If you’ve been considering a 00-18, this is a chance to get one without the new price tag.

The 00-18 Refreshed takes everything people love about Martin’s golden era instruments and refines it with modern playability. At the heart of it is the GE-Scalloped bracing, inspired by Martin’s historic builds. It allows the solid Sitka spruce top to move more freely, giving you a warm, rich voice with outstanding sustain and dynamic response. It’s incredibly expressive, whether you’re playing fingerstyle, light strumming or digging in a bit harder.

The solid mahogany back and sides balance things beautifully, keeping the tone focused and articulate while still full and resonant. There’s a real depth to it, the kind of sound that only improves with time.

Playability is spot on. The Modified Low Oval neck with High Performance Taper feels smooth and natural in the hand, making everything from complex chords to lead work feel effortless. The 24.9” scale gives it that slightly slinkier feel, and the ebony fingerboard is fast, responsive and comfortable over longer sessions.

There are some really nice touches throughout. Ebony bridge pins improve vibration transfer and help bring out extra clarity and sustain. The ebony bridge, bone nut and compensated saddle all contribute to a precise, stable and resonant setup. It all adds up to a guitar that feels incredibly alive.

Visually it’s exactly what you want from a 00-18. The ageing toner finish gives the spruce top that subtle vintage look straight out of the case, paired with the darker mahogany for a timeless aesthetic. Black binding, Old Style 18 rosette, faux tortoise guard and butter bean open gear tuners finish it off perfectly. It looks every bit as good as it sounds.

Condition is as close to new as you’ll find without buying brand new. It’s had minimal use and has been very well looked after.

Due to the value of this instrument, we will arrange personal hand delivery within mainland UK only.

Hardy the poet
Format: Paperback
We all know Hardy the novelist, but perhaps he is less well known as a poet. In this volume of over 900 pages, with nearly 1,000 poems, Hardy is colorful, chatty, direct, lyrical, thoughtful, deep. And perhaps his finest quality - at least so I find - is the fact that he is down-to-earth. His poems are not "difficult" for a reasonably literate, experienced reader; and the rhyming is never forced. In short, his poems are a delight.

The other side of one of the giants of the Victorian era.
Format: Paperback
Thomas Hardy is my favorite novelist who has ever lived. I preface the review of this poetry anthology - which includes every one of the 900+ poems he wrote throughout his life, from the 1860s to just before his death in 1928 - in this way because I’m a bit biased. Hardy’s poetry is technically satisfying and nearly as moving as his novels, and you can tell that the same precision he brought to prose is on full display in his verse. I’m working my way through every single poem in this collection, and thus far my favorites are “The Convergence of the Twain” and “After the Last Breath.” There are other poets whose works I like better (Dickinson, Yeats, Wordsworth, and Whitman come to mind), but as an amateur Hardy scholar, reading this collection is positively invaluable to understand the full depth of his genius, and as always Wordsworth Classics delivers in terms of a quality paperback that should withstand years of enjoyment. I own many of their releases and have yet to find one that even slightly disappoints.
