The Yamaha 40hp Midrange four strokes are known for their small size and solid performance. Light and powerful, these nimble, three-cylinder wonders are perfect for light duty on skiffs, jons and inflatables and small pontoons or aluminum fishing boats. With single-overhead camshafts and electronic fuel injection, they deliver quick starts, responsive power, quiet operation and valuable efficiency. These 747cc 40hp midrange outboards boasts a streamlined design and solid performance. At just 214 pounds, it’s suitable for lightweight craft such as aluminum fishing boats and inflatables.
KEY FEATURES

Control and Comfort: Yamaha's optional, award-winning Multi-Function Tiller handle features a Variable Trolling RPM Switch (VTS). It allows for precision trolling speed adjustments in 50-RPM increments. Compatible with all Midrange models.

Easy Engine Flushing: A Freshwater Flush Device allows you to flush the engine without running it, for added convenience and extended engine life.

Power Trim and Tilt: Power trim and tilt models provide a trim range of -3 up to +20 degrees. This brings the bow of the boat up, for better hole shot and top speed and a smoother ride.

Reliability and Durability: Combined with Yamaha's proprietary alloy (YDC-30), their exclusive Phaze Five™ anti-coorosive pain system provides a tough, five-layer barrier against corrosion. This protection is standard on all Yamaha Midrange four-stroke engines.

Sony STR-AN1000 Malfunctioning

I had the previous model which started Malfunctioning after about 10 years so I decided to replace it with this. I bought the 'renewed' new model. This started failing almost immediately. The logic constantly malfunctions; the input selection stopped working, the remote doesn't respond, it goes into mute. I'm unplugging it every few days to get the unit to thing to start functioning again. Initially I thought it was operator error but the errors started increasing with frequency. The malfunctions seemed similar to my old 8 year old model. I got less than 6 months of use out of this and now I have to replace it. Specs might be good on paper, the sound is decent for its class but I think that even my 10-year old 1050 should have lasted longer.
