You read the back of every label before you put anything on your baby. And the back of most baby-product labels is long — preservatives, fragrance, emulsifiers, mineral oil — most of it there to hold a water-based lotion together on the shelf, not to do anything for your baby's skin. Baby Whip is the short list instead: a baby moisturizer made by parents who wanted something simple enough to actually read.

That's Baby Whip. Four food-grade ingredients. No honey, no lanolin, no fragrance, no essential oils — we left out the ingredients most likely to bother a baby's skin. Hand-made in small batches in Arizona by Joe and Jen Popovich, parents themselves, who built Tau Tau Skin after Jen couldn't find a clean baby and pregnancy-safe option she trusted.

Who Baby Whip Is For

  • Newborns and infants
  • Toddlers and small children
  • Babies with cradle cap, diaper rash, eczema, or dry patches
  • Pregnant or breastfeeding women who want one product safe for both themselves and their baby
  • Adults with extremely sensitive, fragrance-reactive, or allergy-prone skin
  • Anyone tired of guessing whether a "natural" baby product is actually clean

Why Most Baby Lotions Have a Longer List

It's not a secret — it's chemistry. Most baby lotions are mostly water, and a water-based formula needs extra ingredients just to stay stable and spreadable:

  • Preservatives — water-based formulas need them so they don't spoil. Baby Whip has no water, so it needs none.
  • Fragrance — added for scent, not for skin. We leave it out entirely.
  • Emulsifiers — needed to blend oil and water together. With no water to blend, we skip them too.
  • Mineral oil and petrolatum — inexpensive fillers that sit on the surface. We use nourishing fats instead.

Baby Whip is four ingredients and no water. None of that extra list is necessary.

What's Inside — 4 Clean Ingredients

  • Grass-fed & finished tallow — molecular structure mirrors human sebum; carries fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, K; one of the most easily-absorbed nourishing fats for delicate baby skin
  • Organic jojoba oil — closest plant oil to human skin lipids; non-comedogenic; gentle on the most sensitive skin
  • Organic extra virgin olive oil — squalene-rich, deeply moisturizing, used safely on babies for centuries
  • Organic beeswax — creates a breathable protective barrier; locks in moisture without clogging pores

What's Explicitly NOT in Baby Whip

No honey (avoided in baby products under one year). No lanolin. No fragrance. No essential oils. No parabens. No phthalates. No sulfates or SLS. No formaldehyde-releasing preservatives. No mineral oil or petrolatum. No water (which means no preservative system needed at all).

What Baby Whip Is For — Use Cases

  • Diaper rash: a breathable layer right where skin meets a wet diaper — tallow and beeswax keep the area soft and protected
  • Cradle cap: massage a little into the scalp, let it sit, then gently brush or wash out — the same softening you'd give any dry, flaky patch
  • Eczema-prone patches: a rich, fragrance-free layer of moisture for the dry, rough spots
  • Dry skin: daily all-over moisturizer for newborns and babies with dry, flaky skin
  • Chapped cheeks and lips: safe for the most delicate areas of baby's face
  • Massage oil: warm a small amount in your palms for skin-to-skin time

How to Use

  1. Wash your hands and ensure baby's skin is clean and dry.
  2. Scoop a pea-sized amount with clean fingers.
  3. Gently apply to the diaper area, dry patches, eczema-prone skin, or anywhere baby needs extra care.
  4. Use as often as needed throughout the day.

A small amount goes a long way. One tin typically lasts 2-4 months of regular use.

Hand-Made in Arizona

Every tin of Baby Whip is hand-made in small batches in Arizona by Joe and Jen Popovich — a husband-and-wife team, and parents themselves. Nothing leaves the table without Joe checking it personally.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Baby Whip gentle enough for newborn skin?
Yes. The four ingredients are food-grade and gentle enough for newborn skin. We deliberately exclude honey (not recommended for babies under 12 months), lanolin (a common allergen), and all fragrance. Always patch-test on a small area first if your baby has known sensitivities.

Can I use Baby Whip on cradle cap?
Lots of parents reach for it for cradle cap. Massage a small amount into the scalp, leave it 15-30 minutes, then gently brush or wash out — the same way it softens any dry, flaky patch, just on the scalp.

Can I use Baby Whip for diaper rash?
Yes — it's one of the most common ways parents use it. The beeswax forms a breathable layer and the tallow keeps skin soft. Smooth a little on at each change, and go thicker for overnight or longer stretches.

Is this safe to use on my own face if I have sensitive skin?
Absolutely. A lot of adults with very reactive, fragrance-sensitive, or allergy-prone skin use Baby Whip as their face moisturizer — it's the simplest, shortest formula in our line.

Why no honey or lanolin when other tallow products use them?
Honey is not recommended in any product applied to babies under 12 months. Lanolin (sheep wool extract) is a common skin allergen. We removed both to make Baby Whip safe for infants from day one.

How is this different from your Whipped Body Butter?
The Whipped Body Butter contains raw honey for additional benefits in adults. Baby Whip excludes honey and uses a slightly different formulation specifically optimized for infant skin and sensitive adults.

Works great and so much fun!
Color: Black
How did I live without this for so long? I love this little gadget! It gets used multiple times a day. It's not only great for frothing milk but it will whip eggs for a recipe and stir other ingredients as well. People who have complained that the stirring attachment was missing a piece did not read the description. The picture clearly shows there is no "boot" on that attachment, you don't want that one to spin like the frother. The Frother holds a charge for quite a while as well. I use mine multiple times a day and it is still holding a charge after weeks of daily use. Great item!

The perfect whipper for protein powders
Color: Blue
Love, love this whipper. Had to finally replace my old one that I got several years ago that was battery operated. This rechargeable replacement is incredible. Thought I would miss my old one, but no. The 3 interchangeable attachments make it my go to for a ton of things. Perfect for mixing protein powders!

Reliable favorite kitchen tool
Color: Blue
This wonderful tool may be the most used tool in our kitchen. The hardest thing about it is to remember you can push the button and it runs- you don't have to hold it!. The charge on the rechargable battery last a long time- about 1 recharge per month- and we use it daily. We use the mixer attachment most. It works great for protein powders, collagen, iced tea or lemonade mix. It cleans easily and is waterproof- just make sure the cover is over the charging port. We have used it to froth milk, whip eggs, and as I said we use it daily to mix beverages. I worried about the price, but it is a great value because we bought it in December 2024 and it is more powerful and has already lasted longer than two whimpy ones.
