Smart and simple to call this bravura like this! Songs with a tremendous grit that open the hearts of any SLADE, ROSE TATTOO and 70s Sharpie bands fans! Tune in and be surprised that their ball park is not located in Australia but in Montreal, Canada. But hey, this is double trouble since you may have noticed there must be something in the Quebec Water to write rock songs with huge hooks. This is street rock to rise both first in the air and stomp on the dusty ground. High voltage vocals, killer guitar riffs and scream`em-out chorus lines. This international four-piece thunderstorm of rock and roll untouchables has members of CHEAP FUR (US), DANGEREENS (CAN) and CRUSADERS OF LOVE (France). Songs about gangs, disco rivalries, street life, fist fights and motor bikes. Give them Kungfu-movies and a Clockwork Orange Oi-Glory or they are in trouble! "Muscle Rock" is the most firing terror teen debut album we heard in quite a while, and it smashed quite some clichéd trappings you may heard of. All songs by STREET PANTHER. ox-fanzine.com #175 August 2024 Die Nadel senkt sich auf das Vinyl, ein trockener Drumbeat ertönt, nach fünf Sekunden kommt eine Gitarre dazu, wenig später noch eine zweite Gitarre und der Bass. Woran erinnert das noch gleich? Als nach einer halben Minute der Gesang einsetzt, ist alles klar: AC/DC. Der Opener „Barbarian“ hat alles, was eine Aussie-Sharpie-Band braucht, nur kommen STREET PANTHER nicht aus Down Under, sondern aus dem kanadischen Montreal. Auch der zweite Song „Aggro“ beginnt mit einem Malcolm Young-Gedächtnisriff, ein Angus Young-Solo kommt hinzu, dazu die wirklich gute, sehr stark an Bon Scott/Angry Anderson (ROSE TATTOO) erinnernde Stimme von Sänger und Gitarrist Zack Odom. „Fist fighter“ atmet dann eher den Geist härterer Glamrock-Bands. „Battlefield“ ebenfalls, obwohl hier das Tempo etwas zurückgenommen wird. Und so zieht sich das durch die insgesamt 13 Lieder des Albums. Die ganze Zeit hat man das Gefühl, zum ersten Mal ein Klassikeralbum zu hören, das aus unerfindlichen Gründen bisher nicht auf dem heimischen Plattenteller gelandet ist. Wer ein Faible für frühe AC/DC, ROSE TATTOO, SLADE oder THE ANGELS hat, sollte STREET PANTHER unbedingt eine Chance geben, denn derart authentisch und gut hat man diese Musik von einer neuen Band lange nicht gehört.
