This is a compilation of short stories written by students in Gr 4-8 who attended workshop #25 of the Calgary Young Writers Conference, 2018. The workshop used a modified mad lib technique to randomly select words for certain categories (verbs, adjectives, location, critical object, etc...) to create a story. After random words were chosen with the help of students, the workshop host then created a story on the spot using those words. Emphasis was on story and character development. The workshop later allowed participants selected a picture prompt and used the same mad lib technique to come up with their own random words to create their own story. The stories in this book may or may not reflect the work done during the workshop. Participants were free to submit for publication any short stories they wrote after their experience at YWC2018. Stories are completely or mostly unedited and are published in its original form and intent and it represents the original work of the individual authors as intended.
