When my friend Marco Lincetto sent me this music so I could write something about it, my mind took an apparently simple and reductive direction, based on quantities.

How many beautiful CDs has Marco produced? How many of them are related to Massimo Salvagnini? How many of them have I written an introduction for? The next phase, given my age, was to ask myself "how much longer"? How many more CDs will I be able to comment on? How many more beautiful CDs can Marco still produce? And how much more music can Salvagnini still record?

As can be easily seen, moving the cursor along the timeline leads us to understand that the value of our actions, and even our intentions, depends on the perspective from which we performed them. The first CD is different from the last.

We would like to be able to always remain in an endless perspective, but there comes a point where we realize that history will go on without us, and that perhaps someone with time to spare will be able to put our lives in order in a way that is impossible for us ourselves.

The wonderful aspect of these reflections, made while listening to the songs on this CD, is that only at the end did I realize that humans have always asked themselves such questions while observing the Moon, knowing that that big ball circling us will continue to turn long after the hum of our lives has ended. In some way, in this music, I found precisely this state of mind, or rather, a true feeling.
