Wenn er etwas anpackt, dann gründlich: Ernst Heinl, im Hauptberuf BMW-Ingenieur aus Zolling bei Freising, hat sich einen Namen gemacht mit seiner Restaurieranleitung für Lanz Glühkopfbulldogs. Im vorliegenden Buch beschäftigt er sich mit einer Motoren-Legende, dem Hanomag D 52 / D 57, der rund 30 Jahre lang die Spitzenprodukte der Hannoveraner antrieb. Heinl dokumentiert Geschichte und Technik des Motors am Beispiel der Restaurierung seines Hanomag SR 38/45, den er bis auf die letzte Schraube zerlegt und wieder aufgebaut hat. Motor und Einspritzpumpe wurden sorgfältigst restauriert, das Getriebe sogar - nach allen notwendigen Berechnungen - neu angefertigt. Aber auch profanere Dinge wie die Rekonstruktion der Kotflügel oder des Fahrersitzes kommen nicht zu kurz. Alles in allem eine Anleitung für wirklich anspruchsvolle Restaurierer.
